Prepping Your Teeth
Dr. Scott will remove a very small amount of enamel to accommodate the veneers, typically less than half a millimeter. This step is not painful, but we can provide dental sedation on top of your local anesthesia if you desire.
Testing Temporary Veneers
Our dentist will place temporary veneers for you to wear for a few days. Consider them a prototype for your permanent restorations. Dr. Scott will ask for your feedback on the look, fit, and feel so he can make improvements to your final design.
Placing Permanent Veneers
With all adjustments in place, Dr. Scott can remove your temporary veneers and affix your permanent veneers to your teeth. He’ll make sure you're fully satisfied with your results and give you your before-and-after photos before you leave.

What are your veneers made of?
Dr. Scott’s veneers are ultra-thin shells of dental porcelain, the gold-standard material for restorations. We select porcelain for its natural shine and toothlike translucency. The material is also strong and durable enough to withstand the full force of your bite for years.
Does getting veneers hurt?
No, getting veneers doesn’t hurt. We administer local anesthesia, so you’ll only feel some pressure as Dr. Scott removes tooth enamel and reshapes your teeth in preparation for the veneers. Still, we’re happy to offer sedation to patients with dental anxiety or especially sensitive teeth. Just let us know if you’re interested.
Can I replace missing teeth with veneers?
Veneers conceal dental imperfections on existing teeth; they can’t replace missing teeth. But you’re still in the right place with our Virginia Beach practice if missing teeth are your primary concern. Dr. Scott’s son, Dr. Taylor Parr, is a skilled implant dentist at The Smile Center.
