Better Oral Health
A misaligned smile is not only a cosmetic concern. It can increase your risk for gum disease, tooth decay, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder. Straightening your teeth can prevent health issues.
A Straight and Beautiful Smile
Whether you’re five, fifteen, or fifty, anytime is a good time to straighten your smile. The Smile Center provides both traditional orthodontics and Invisalign® at our Virginia Beach office so that you can choose the treatment that best suits your lifestyle. No matter your age, straightening crooked teeth can help you look your best, and maintain oral health. Misaligned teeth that overlap are difficult to clean and provide hiding places for bacteria that cause tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath. The uneven bite caused by crooked teeth not only interferes with your smile, but can cause long-lasting problems with your jaw.
The technology involved in traditional orthodontics has dramatically evolved over the years. The metal brackets and wires are now more comfortable and visually appealing. Invisalign® provides a revolutionary way to straighten your smile, as its aligners are virtually invisible. No matter how severe your needs are, Dr. Tara Frey can straighten your teeth and reward you with a beautiful, healthy smile.

Traditional Orthodontics
Typically known as a treatment for adolescents, metal braces are now widely used for adults as well. During your initial orthodontic exam, impressions will be made of your teeth that will be used to create a personalized treatment plan. Along with the recent improvements in orthodontic technology, more aesthetically appealing types of metal braces have been developed. For instance, a plastic bracket can be applied in conjunction with a very thin, gentle wire to avoid the typically metallic look. Another option involves placing the brackets on the back of your teeth to keep them entirely out of view. Once your braces are removed, we may fit you for a retainer that will prevent your teeth from reverting back to their original position.
The details of your care, including estimated treatment length, at-home care, and our long-term goals for your smile, will be discussed in more detail during your consultation
Invisalign®
The new state-of-the-art Invisalign® treatment is giving our Virginia Beach patients an opportunity to straighten their teeth and achieve a beautiful smile in an innovative way. Invisalign® treatment involves a series of transparent aligners that refine your smile line discreetly.
Each set of aligners will be worn for about two weeks, before they are changed out for the next set, progressively shifting your teeth into a shapely and attractive smile. Because Invisalign® is completely removable, you will be able to take them out to eat, drink, and brush and floss your teeth. Total treatment time generally lasts between 5-18 months. Checkups at the Smile Center will be scheduled every six weeks to make sure your smile is adjusting properly.
