Invisalign

Straightening your teeth can have a range of benefits, including a healthier smile, but many patients dislike the idea of metal braces. At The Smile Center, we offer Invisalign®, an innovative system which uses smooth, clear aligners that are virtually invisible. So why is Invisalign a great choice at our Virginia Beach, VA, office?

Invisalign Fits Your Lifestyle Instead of Disrupting It

Virtually Undetectable

Each set of Invisalign trays is made from clear, BPA-free plastic, which blends into your smile. Your friends and family may not even realize you are wearing them.

Improved Comfort

Dr. Scott Parr and Dr. Tara Frey can customize your Invisalign trays so they fit securely and comfortably against your teeth. The smooth material also means the aligners will not irritate the soft tissue inside of your mouth.

Greater Freedom

Invisalign trays are removable, meaning you do not have to worry about any food or hygiene restrictions. You can enjoy your favorite foods freely and then care for your teeth as you normally would.

What can you do to protect your results?

You Play a Crucial Role in Maintaining Your Results

Once you complete your treatment at our Virginia Beach practice, you will need to take steps to maintain the new position of your teeth. Dr. Parr or Dr. Frey will help you decide whether you can wear your last aligner or a custom retainer.

The first few weeks after you complete treatment are the most important time to wear your retainers as your teeth can shift out of position more easily. Many patients choose to wear their aligners or retainers nightly for the rest of their lives to ensure their smile stays straight and beautiful.

Imagine Better Health  and a More Beautiful Smile

While the main goal of Invisalign is to straighten your teeth, there are a variety of other effects this treatment can offer.

When your teeth are aligned properly, it is easier to brush and floss your teeth. Invisalign can also reduce other effects of crooked teeth, such as headaches or excessive wear.

However, most patients discover that the best result of Invisalign is the confidence they experience as a result of their new smiles.

Never Had Any Complaints

"I've been going to The Smile Center for around 10 years now.  All the staff are friendly and helpful. Dr. Parr is great and always takes the time to explain what needs to be done and makes you feel comfortable... The office is nice and always clean.  Never had any complaints about the service I have received."

Can I afford Invisalign?

Braces and Invisalign Have Comparable Costs

In general, Invisalign involves similar costs to braces. However, since treatment with Invisalign often takes less time than traditional orthodontics, you may save money overall.

The best way to find out how much Invisalign will cost you is to schedule an appointment with Dr. Parr or Dr. Frey in Virginia Beach and discuss your needs and goals.

So what actually influences your Invisalign cost?

Your Treatment Fees Will Depend on Several Factors

Case Complexity

A major factor in how much Invisalign treatment costs is the extent of misalignment in your smile. In general, a severely crooked smile will cost more to correct than a slight gap between your front teeth.

Treatment Length

The longer treatment with Invisalign takes, the more aligners you will need to achieve your goals. Additional aligners can raise the final treatment price

Your Insurance

Not all insurance plans cover the cost of orthodontic treatment. The amount of coverage your plan includes will impact the overall cost of straightening your smile with Invisalign.

Is Invisalign really worth the cost?

Is Invisalign my only option?

No, and We Can Determine the Right Treatment for You

Invisalign is an excellent treatment choice for a variety of patients. However, we also offer traditional orthodontics, as well as a range of other cosmetic procedures.

Dr. Parr and Dr. Frey can discuss your goals and preferences with you and help recommend the treatment most suited to your needs.

Invisalign vs. braces

So what are my other choices?

There Are Several Alternatives to Invisalign

Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces are the most common orthodontic treatment. This option is great for patients with complex alignment issues. However, if you want to discreetly straighten your teeth, metal braces may not be right for you.

Clear Brackets

For some patients, Dr. Parr or Dr. Frey can place clear brackets with a thin wire to avoid the metallic look of traditional braces. This option is more aesthetically pleasing, but still involves brackets.

Lingual Braces

Another potential alternative to Invisalign involves placing brackets on the backs of the teeth. These braces work in a similar fashion to traditional braces, but are completely out of sight. Due to the complexity of placing lingual braces, this treatment option may cost more than Invisalign.

Porcelain Veneers

For minor misalignment, our doctors can place porcelain veneers to conceal crooked teeth or gaps in your smile. This cosmetic option does not address health issues, such as an uncomfortable bite, but can provide a more symmetrical smile.

Frequently Asked Questions about Invisalign

I'm already wearing braces. Can I switch to Invisalign?

It is possible to switch from braces to Invisalign. However, there may be a reason that braces are a better choice for you. Our doctors can discuss your options with you to determine the best approach.

Can Invisalign fix my teeth if they shifted after braces?

Yes, Invisalign can treat most common misalignment. If you are dissatisfied with the results of your past orthodontic treatment, make an appointment and we explain your treatment choices to you.

Does Invisalign work with veneers or crowns?

It depends. Make sure to discuss your full dental history with Dr. Parr or Dr. Frey during your consultation so they can determine if Invisalign will work for you.

Can I use Invisalign with bridgework?

Since dental bridges connect two or more teeth, Invisalign may not be effective for patients with bridgework. However, you may benefit from an alternative orthodontic treatment.

How do I keep my aligners clean?

You can brush your aligners with a toothbrush and toothpaste. Make sure to rinse them with lukewarm water, as hot temperatures can warp the plastic. We can also provide you with a sterilizing system keep your trays clean and hygienic during treatment.

What if I lose or break an aligner?

Let our office know immediately. We can make sure you stay on track with your treatment plan. You may need to wear a previous aligner, switch to the next set in the series, or order a replacement.

Is Invisalign painful?

The Invisalign system works by applying constant, gentle pressure to guide your teeth into place. You may feel some discomfort, especially for the first few days after switching to a new set. However, most patients describe the sensation as pressure, rather than pain.
